Committee Distributes Food Items To PHALGA Ward 18
The Rivers State COVID -19 Palliative Committee has distributed food items to Oro Obaziolu community in Phalga Ward 18.
Commissioner for Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim who presented the items on behalf of the committee said the gesture was in line with the commitment of Governor Nyesom Wike to ensure that nobody suffered in the state as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nsirim also said Governor Wike had demonstrated the kind of leadership the state needs at this time, adding that the feat is being appreciated across the entire country and other parts of the world.
He charged the community to ensure that the items get to the downtrodden in the community.
Later in an interview with newsmen, Nsirim said the gesture was a demonstration of the love Governor Wike had for the people of Rivers State.
The Commissioner also debunked claims that the gesture was being shared along party lines, adding that the situation has nothing to do with political party.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Transport, Mr Sunny Ejekwu said the gesture would have great impact on the lives of the people of the community.
Mr Ejekwu said COVID-19 had come with complaints of hunger, and stated that it was incumbent on Governor Wike to ensure that nobody starved.
According to him, Governor Wike had shown the way in terms of leadership style which other states are copying.
The commissioner assured that the items would get to the target recipients.
Receiving the items on behalf of the community Prophet Michael Ichemati described the gesture as the first of its kind in the community adding that people of Oro Obaziolu community will remain enternally grateful to Governor Wike for remembering them at this time.
Also the Paramount Ruker of Oro Obaziolu community, Eze Omunakwe Innocent Ejekwu Aka thanked the Governor for remembering the people in this critical time of need.
Eze Ejekwu who is the Eze Ugo II of Rebisi Kingdom assured of the community’s support to the administration of Governor Wike.
