Businessman Hails Flyover Project, Seeks Early Completion
A businessman, Mr. Ogonnaya Emmanuel, has called for timely completion of the flyover project in Rumuokoro, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State,
Emmanuel made the call yesterday, in Port Harcourt while speaking with The Tide in an interview.
He said before now, customers usually come with their cars parked in front of his shop to buy goods, but that with the ongoing project, the situation of the business had changed, even as he said the flyover would help decongest traffic in the area.
According to him, “I am pleading that the contractors in charge of this project should be fast in completing it so that the businesses there, will return to their normal shape.
“In the course of the project, the road is blocked and is affecting the businesses there”, he said.
Similarly, the foreman of the flyover project, Mr. Franklyn Ihu of Julius Berger Construction Company said the timely completion of the project depended on availability of funds. “My strength to completing this project depends on the money given to the company by the state government to enable it complete the project before the rain sets in.
On the progress of work so far, he expressed satisfaction with the pace of work, adding that certain components of the flyover had been achieved.
“So far, no challenges before the company in this project, everything is going on well. The project is not in any way affecting the lives of people or businesses around”, he said.
