Give INEC A Chance –CAN
The National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has appealed to Nigerians not to be discouraged by INEC’s decision to reschedule the elections.
Oritsejafor told newsmen in Warri in Delta State on Monday that INEC should not be judged harshly yet, but should be given a chance to see how its new programme would fare.
He described as unfortunate the present confusion trailing the nation’s electoral process.
The CAN boss said that given the preparation time for the election and the pronouncements of the INEC chairman, it was expected that things would have gone smoothly.
He, however, said that he did not think that the INEC boss, Prof. Attahiru Jega, was an insincere man and attributed the development to the “normal human flaws’’.
“Let’s believe God that the new schedule will work out the way it is supposed to,’’ Oritsejafor said.
Also speaking, the Parish Priest of Holy Family Catholic Church, Ejeba in Warri, Rev. Fr. Daniel Ofuya, advised Nigerians to be hopeful that INEC would get it right at the end of the day.
He said that many things had happened in our politics and “we still have hope for the future. We should not fold up our arms, waiting for the worse to happen, we should pray’’.
He said that everybody should pray for the betterment of the nation since the nation’s good should be everybody’s aspiration and prayer.
Also Speaking, a Pastor with the Word of Life Bible Church, Warri, Pastor Innocent Adjenughure, said that most times, the beginning of a thing did not determine how the end might be.
Adjenughure appealed to Nigerians to bear with INEC, support and pray for it till the end, which might come out very successfully.
Meanwhile, business activities have resumed in Warri and environs with all the markets, stores banks, companies opened for business.
