Cleric Tasks Political Leaders, Others On Grassroots Competitions
The Senior Pastor of Souls Ablaze Ministries International Church of Port Harcourt, Samuel Richards, has called on political leaders, multi -nationals and corporate bodies to support the grassroots football tournaments in the state.
He stated that if adequate support is given to grassroots competitions a lot of talent would be discovered to represent the country in future tournaments.
Richards made the call over the weekend while speaking with Sports journalists shortly after the final match of the second edition of the Radio Nigeria Kids Football Challenge, at NTA premises in Port Harcourt.
“We expect our political and opinion leaders in the country to sponsor grassroots competitions among the youth.
If that is happening they will not have time to involve themselves into negative activities,” Pastor Richards said.
He described the final match as impressive, excellent and well entertaining, that is why they partner with Radio Nigeria, in the state to ensure that the tournament is sustained.
The senior Pastor, commended Radio Nigeria for organizing the competition,as the competition will help to discover hidden talents.
“The best that will represent Nigeria will come from here .I know they will do better in future, that is why we should keep praying and supporting them,” he stated.
He used the forum to also commend the State governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, over his pragmatic approach towards sports development in the state.
