ABC, Lafarge-WAPCO Sign Pact
Associated Bus Company Plc, Operators of ABC Transport has signed a Transport Service agreement with Lafarge – WAPCO Nigeria, manufacturers of Elephant Cement brand.
In this partnership, ABC Transport will ensure smooth transportation of cement products from Lafarge’s ultra modern plants in Ewekoro and Shagamu, Ogun State to all parts of the country.
Head Public Relations, Mr Tom Uduak disclosed in a statement, that ABC Transport has already advanced payment for 150 trailers, noting that sixty trailers have since been delivered to ABC Transport in the first shipment by Mercedes Benz.
According to him, ABC Transport was selected as official haulage transporter for Lafarge-WAPCO based on its unrivalled track record of safety and standard compliance, strong values upon which Lafarge-WAPCO operations are founded. ABC Transport was scored high on the safety certification required of every operator contracted by Lafarge-WAPCO”.
He further stated that the investment, worth N2.7 billion is being financed by Fidelity Bank and Diamond Bank to further ensure a successful partnership. ABC Transport has completed a well equipped maintenance depot in Papalanto, Ogun State, manned by experienced and dexterous auto engineers.
He said all vehicles will be installed with tracking devices for real time management. As a matter of safety tradition, every ABC vehicle is tracked electronically to enable the company keep an eye on speed and location of its fleet, adding that, recruitments and defensive driving training of trailer drivers and attendants have just been concluded.
With the demand for increased local capacity in cement production, and federal government’s auspicious cement policies, Lafarge-WAPCO is certain of doubling its production output. The Lakataba project, expected to fully commence production this year.
