Police, Monarchs Partner Against Criminality

The Rivers State Police Command has reassured its readiness to partner with the traditional rulers in fighting crime.
The Commander, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), CSP Uchenna Iwuh gave the reassurance shortly after his coronation as “Dike Eji Echemba” of Ulakwo/Umuselem clan by the Onye Ishi Agwuru Ulakwo/Umuselem in Etche Local Government, Eze Ken Nwala.
Iwuh said the partnership with the custodians of the people’s culture and heritage would assist the command in securing a better environment where the populace would sleep with their eyes closed.
The SARS commander said the traditional rulers’ recognition of their effort in fighting crime shows there was need for both parties to do more for the security of the state.
He said: “We must partner with the traditional rulers to fight crimes as well as the collaboration of all relevant stakeholders to sustain the existing peace in Etche.
“Our emphasis is to secure security-free environment where investors and inhabitants would move freely without intimidation “.
He appreciated the fact that the traditional institution was beginning to recognise the contributions of the police, and assured that the police would never compromise on its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property.
