Council Solicits FG’s Support To Boost Image
Worried by the poor perception of many Nigerians towards insurance, the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), has called for the support of the federal government to fully enshrine insurance in the country to help change public perception of the business.
President of NCRIB, Dr. Bola Onigbogi who made the call at the investiture of the body’s new executive of the Port Harcourt Area Committee held weekend, said despite the pivotal place insurance brokers occupy in the risk management and insurance value chain, its role and place is grossly misunderstood in the country.
Onigbogi, who is the second female President and 20th President of the NCRIB said: “It seems absurd that many still confuse the identity and role of the insurance broker to that of the stock broker or tied agents of the insurance.
“Suffice it to say that the insurance broker is the most valuable professional in the insurance value chain who assist the insurance clients, be they corporate or individual to enjoy maximum value for their insurances,” she stated.
Dr. Onigbogi said the council has identified two pivots namely: image management, image building and strategic engagement upon which the tenure will stand, saying: “While there will be sustainable efforts in improving the image of the members through enhance internal communication and empowerment amongst others.
“On the other leg, the council will curry and catch in on strategic relationship with government institutions, professional bodies, organized private sector, and other stakeholders for better collaboration for the council and its members, amongst others.
