Organisation Alerts Job Seekers On Fraudsters Using Minister’s Name
The Onu Political Organisation (TOPO), has alerted the public against fraudsters using the name of Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, Minister of Science and Technology to defraud job seekers.
Chief Egwu Chima, TOPO, National Publicity Secretary disclosed this yesterday at a news conference in Abakaliki.
TOPO is a political organisation that shares political ideals with Onu.
Chima alleged that one person (name withheld) was going around using Onu’s name to collect money from job seekers with a promise to assist them to secure federal employment.
He said that the alleged fraudster was reported to have ripped off his victims in the ongoing recruitment exercise at the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.
The group, which warned job seekers and their families against the activities of such unscrupulous elements, said that effort to apprehend the culprit was in top gear.
Chima noted that Onu has dissociated himself from the alleged job racketeer, adding that the minister never asked any person to compile list for securing federal employment.
“The attention of The Onu Political Organisation has once more been drawn to the activities of unscrupulous elements who fake their names and identity to defraud unsuspecting citizens using names of established and credible men in society.
“The case in point here is about an individual, (name withheld), who is allegedly going about collecting money from people in Abakaliki and around Ebonyi for purposes of helping them to secure federal employment.
“The said (person) tells his unsuspecting victims that he is acting on behalf of his Excellency, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, Minister of Science and Technology.
“We in TOPO wish to use this medium to inform the public that the nefarious activities of this hoodlum is not only criminal but directly aimed at tarnishing the clean image, character and integrity of the minister.
