Council Boss Presents N3.6bn Budget
The acting chairman of Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Kingston Sylvanus, has presented to the council’s legislative assembly a total of N3,664, 316,919.84 as expected income and expenditure of the council for 2011.
Hon. Sylvanus who presented the budget Thursday at the council’s legislative assembly chamber at Ngo, the headquarter of the council, tagged the estimate as “Budget of Transformation” to develop the area.
According to him, N1,932,216, 919.84 is recurrent expenditure while N1,732,100,000 is estimated to serve as capital expenditure in area.
Hon. Sylvanus said the budget is designed to ensure even distributions of developmental projects among communities in the area.
He said the budget is to provide to the people of Andoni infrastructural and social amenities, such as free medical care, education, roads, building of markets, empowerments through entrepreneurship, skill acquisition agriculture among others
“We will apply the budget equitably and pursue it radically for Andoni’s development”. The council boss expressed.
Sylvanus said he would borrowed a leaf from the state Governor, Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi on development stride to develop the area in the remaining few months.
He assured the people of Andoni that Governor Ameachi was ready to partner with the council to fast-track the development of the area.
He also promised to create an enabling environment for lasting cordial relationship between the legislative assembly and the executive of the council.
The council boss urged the people of Andoni to used their massive registration in the just concluded voters registration to vote the Governor for second term in the April 2011 general election.
