Delta’s Partnership With NUT Won’t Stop -Okowa

Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has said that the state government will continue to partner with teachers because of the enviable roles they play in the upbringing of children in the society.
The governor, who represented by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Chief Patrick Ukah, stated this when the state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Delta State wing, Mr Titus Okotie, led members of the union to visit Ukah.
He said that the partnership would be done in such a way that teachers would be proud of their profession as they would be celebrated from time to time to appreciate their contributions to the development of the state.
He disclosed that the annual teachers’ award ceremony would hold this weekend as a way of encouraging them to strive to do better in their chosen profession.
The governor said his administration insisted that the 1,000 teachers recently employed by the state must possess relevant educational qualifications because of the importance of education in the society.
