UNICAL Appoints New Registrar
The Governing Council of the University of Calabar has approved the appointment of Mr. Gabriel Ogar Egbe as the new Registrar of the institution.
This was conveyed in a letter dated September 20 and signed by the outgoing Registrar of the Institution, Mr. Moses Abang.
According to the letter, Egbe’s appointment came on the heels of his success at the interview for appointment of Registrar for the University held on the 19th of September, 2019.
The letter stated that the appointment is for tenure of five years with effect from 25th November, 2019 to 24th November, 2024.
It further stated that the newly appointed Registrar is expected to perform such duties that would be assigned to him by the Vice Chancellor, as the Act establishing the University provides that, “there shall be a Registrar who shall be the chief administrative officer responsible for the day-to-day administrative work of the University and answerable to the Vice Chancellor”.
According to the letter, the Registrar, by the virtue of that office shall be the Secretary to council, Senate, Convocation and congregation.
Until his recent appointment, Mr. Gabriel Egbe was the Deputy Registrar, Academic Division of the University of Calabar.
