Task Force Charges Two Over Assault On Personnel
The Rivers State Task Force on Street Trading, Illegal Markets and Motor Parks says two persons arrested for allegedly assaulting its personnel would be charged to court,
Task Force Coordinator, Bright Amaewhule who disclosed this newsmen in Port Harcourt said that the two suspects assaulted its enforcement team along Sangana Street in Mile One, Diobu, Port Harcourt on Monday.
Amaewhule further said that the suspects would be charged for assault and destruction of government property, as three vehicles used by the enforcement team were destroyed by those arrested.
In another development, the task force said it would go tough on drivers of tricycle popularly known as Keke due to their refusal to vacate major roads.
The coordinator expressed sadness that the keke drivers have ignore all entreaties to ensure they operate within their approved limits; just as he accused them of obstructing the free flow of traffic.
According to him, “Particular those at location junction by Ada George, the one that are operating illegally on flyover by Obiri-kwere, the ones operating at Elelenwo junction by Aba Road, the ones operating at Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) junction Rukpuku.
“We have made every effort towards sanitising those junctions of this keke operators, but they have refused to abide by the law. With effect from Monday, we are not going to take it likely with any keke operator perpetrating such act”.
