ASUP Boss Focuses On Development
Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Rivers State chapter, Comrade Good F. N. has assured that his executive will focus on the promotion of peace and development at the Rivers State Polytechnic (RIVPOLY).
Comrade Good, who stated this recently while briefing the press in his office at the RIVPOLY, Bori, noted that his six months old executive has already recorded remarkable achievements towards ensuring development in the institution.
According to him, such achievements include saving “some funds for the union, and representing the institution adequately at both state and national meetings.”
He confirmed that the new executive was also in touch with the Governor Chibuike Amaechi-led Rivers State Government over the increase in allowance to Polytechnic lecturers.
On his plans for the RIVPOLY communities generally, he said his executive intend to erect ten-room guest house, upgrade the existing club house and also purchase a welfare bus for ASUP members.
He continued that efforts is currently being made to host a national conference in RIVPOLY, saying that a committee to actualise these plans would soon be set up.
Good, however, hinted that without finance, it will be difficult to achieve these laudable plans, hence he appealed for assistance from government at all levels, corporate bodies and public spirited individuals.
He used the opportunity to state the need for support and cooperation among members of ASUP, assuring that his two-year tenure as chairman “shall end in joyous songs on the lips of members.”
