Three Suspects Nabbed For Armed Robbery
Security Operative in Rivers State have arrested three suspects for allegedly strangulating one Samuel Oghenekevbe to death.
The police identified the suspects as Ajibola Onyinola, Olorunniwo Dayo and Olorunniwo Posi. They are said to be undigenes of llaje Ijesha in Osun State, but resident at Eneka, near Port Harcourt.
The hoodlums had reportedly posed as passengers and boarded a Mazda S/W Car with Reg. No Lagos UL891KJA driven by one Samuel Oghenekevbe (now deceased) along Rumuokwurushi road.
The Rivers Police PRO, Dr Rita Inoma Abbey said the hoodlums after boarding the car cleverly used a rope and strangled the driver to death, dumped his corpse by the bush path and zoomed off with the car.
But luck ran out of them on January 13,2011 at about 5.00pm when security operatives swooped on them and rounded them at llesha while making efforts to sell the vehicle.
The police, PRO told newsmen that after serious interrogation the hoodlums confessed to have committed the crime.
Following the confession, the hoodlums were escorted back to Port Harcourt on the 15th of January, 2011 with the recovered vehicle, where they later led the security operatives in Port Harcourt to where the deceased corpse was dumped.
According to her, the corpse has been deposited at the BMH Mortuary, while the state CID is investigating the matter.
She said security is a collective responsibility, and called on members of the public to assist the police with useful information.
