FRSC Warns Personnel Against Extortion
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has warned its patrol personnel against extorting money from motorists during operations on the highways.
The Enugu State Sector Commander, Mr Ogbonnaya Kalu, gave the warning in an interview with The Tide source yesterday in Enugu.
Kalu said that any personnel found taking bribe or extorting money from motorists would be dealt with.
“FRSC personnel do not engage in extorting money from anyone or collecting bribe or any kind of gratification from motorists.
“If anyone is caught doing that, he or she will be used as a scapegoat for others to learn and always do what is right.
“The commission will dismiss any personnel found extorting money from the motorists or demote such personnel,” he said.
He urged the monitoring teams, who were always on the road to fish out any personnel engaged in extortion or compromise in the discharge of their duties.
The FRSC Sector Commander called on all officers in the state to continue to do their best and ensure prompt rescue of road crash victims.
He said the commission would continue to do its best to make Nigerians arrive safely at their various destinations whenever they were on the road.
