Islamic Leader Tasks RSG On Muslim Pilgrims’ Sponsorship
Former Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Sanni Okiri, has called on the Rivers State Government to re-introduce the sponsorship of the annual hajj to Mecca.
Okiri, who said this in an interview with newsmen shortly after the Sallah prayer in Port Harcourt said that reintroducing the government sponsorship of Rivers Moslems to the holy land will advance the spiritual wellbeing of the State.
The former sole Administrator also stressed the need for Nigerians to imbibe the message of love, and tolerance for one another, stressing that there is no need for Nigerians to hate one another because of their ethnic and religious background.
Meanwhile, the Vice President General of the Rivers State Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Nasir Ahwelegbe Uhor has said that the message of Eid-el-Kabir signifies obedience to injunction of Allah.
He said that Nigerians must use the opportunity of the celebration to obey and pray for their leaders at all levels.
According to him, it is the responsibility of all Nigerians to work with the government to end all forms of killings in the country as well as check all forms of cultism in the country.
He said that Moslems in Rivers State will remain obedient and support the government of Ezenwo Nyesom Wike to move the state foreward.
Also speaking, the Chief Imam of Rivers State Central Mosque, Alhaji Yahaya Malik said that obedient to Allah is the right of all Nigerians.
