RSG, Centre Partner To Equip Hospitals
Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, says the state would engage the services of Philips Project Centre Limited, to equip state owned hospitals and the training of staff to maintain the facilities.
The governor stated this yesterday when the board and management of the firm paid him a courtesy visit in Government House, Port Harcourt.
Consequent upon this, the State Chief Executive directed the Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry-Banigo, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health as well as the Permanent Secretary , ,Primary Healthcare to work with Philip Project Centre Limited, on how to develope the facilities.
He said that the focus of his appointment is how to provide health facilities that would improve the living standard of Rivers people.
The governor said: “Health is very important to this administration. It is one key area that we are focusing on to improve the lives of the people.
“We are investing resources to equip the completed Zonal Hospitals that will soon come on stream. We have Zonal Hospitals in Degema, Bori,Etche Ahoada and Omoku. We will equip Degema and Bori Zonal Hospitals because they have been completed “.
Gov Wike added that the State Government under his administration has equipped the Rivers State Teaching Hospital with the sum of $6.5 million and is also equipping the Mother and Child Hospital in Port Harcourt.
He said his interest in Philips Project Centre Limited was based on the fact that the firm has base in Port Harcourt stressing that he will not deal with any company that is not based in Rivers State.
“For you to do job here, you must have your base here and also employ our people. I patronise who patronise us”, he said.
Earlier, the Executive Director, Philips Project Centre Limited, Ayo Grillo expressed the desire of firm to partner with the state government in equipping hospie in y state.
Grillo said that the centre has been working with the state to construct and maintain healthcare facilities.
He explained that has a long working relationship with the state is still interested to work with her.
