Proprietor Seeks Grants For Private Schools In Rivers
The Rivers State Government and the local government councils have been called upon to give grants and monetary support to privately owned schools in the state.
A school proprietor and journalist, Mr Ruskin N. Amadi made the call recently on the heels of activities marking this year’s Children Day celebrations.
Amadi who is the founder and chief executive officer of Divine Favoir Academy Rumu-Agholu, Port Harcourt wondered why government will give loans and grants to other business concerns and exclude the education sector, adding that such gesture would assist in the proper development of private schools in the state.
He lauded the various educational policies in the state and urged the state government to close down non serious privately owned schools with a view to ridding the state of sub standard schools.
In his speech, the special guest of honour and the chairman of the event Pastor Ikechukwu Odu lauded the management of Divine Favoir Academy for organising the Children’s Day events for pupils in the school and children of the neighbourhood and urged the pupils to take their studies seriously so as to become leaders of tomorrow.
