Lagos PDP Rejects Result Of House Of Reps Rerun
Lagos Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the result of Saturday’s House of Representatives election re-run in Ajeromi/Ifelodun Federal Constituency and has vowed to reclaim its mandate legally.
Otunba Segun Adewale, known as Aeroland has, in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday night, noted that Hon Rita Orji, incumbent House of Representsives member in the Constituency won the election.
He maintained that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) connived with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel results in areas where PDP was leading with 3,224 votes during February 23rd Election as declared By INEC.
Adewale said it was shameful that after the election on Saturday, INEC through the returning officer Prof. Mathew Olori of University of Lagos, declared Mr. Kolawole Taiwo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the Ajeromi Ifelodun Federal House of Representatives rerun election, claiming that Taiwo emerged winner and returned elected with 36,115 votes to defeat Hon. Rita Orji candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party who scored 32,557 votes.
The former chairman of the party stated that it had come to the knowledge of the party that whenever the party won an election and INEC called for a rerun, it had always been a ploy by the electoral body to rig and falsify the results, with direct confrontation and disenfranchisement of electorates.
Adewale while calling for total cancellation of the election said, “It is on record that in the affected 71 polling units in eight wards that PDP voters were chased away by dangerous weapon wielding thugs. They used some uncollected PVCs and distributed to APC members which they used in voting. The electoral body has a lot of questions to answer over the matter, probably in court” he said.
The politician noted that the party had protested against the barbaric conduct of the election because such could not be allowed to continue under a democratic setting, and if there was no proper control it would spell doom for the country.
The PDP chieftain stressed that they had alerted the national leadership of the party on the irregularity and broad day light manipulation by INEC and APC, intimating it on the need to join force with it and reject the results outrightly because there was nothing like election in Ajeromi, rather what they had was festival of result writing exercise and electoral fraud.

LP Crisis: Ex-NWC Member Dumps Dumps Abure Faction
Mr Ojukwu, who recently returned to the interim National Working Committee led by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, noted that the party had 34 elected members in the House of Representatives, eight Senators, and 80 members at the state Houses of Assembly after the 2023 general elections.
“Now we lost all of them,” he said. “I don’t think we have as many as five members in the National Assembly.”
The former national officer of the LP talked to journalists in Abuja and said he chose to join the caretaker committee led by Senator Nenadi-Usman because they are now the officially recognized leaders of the Party.
“I chose to work with the caretaker committee to help save the Labour Party, for the benefit of the party. I also want to use this chance to ask my colleagues at the national, state, and local government levels to come together and help rebuild our party.
“Another election is around the corner. We lost everything we have. They have left to other political parties. So I’ll reach out to all my friends in the other group to get together and work on making this party stronger again.
“The caretaker committee has formed a reconciliation committee. Let’s come together and talk so that we can restore the first opposition political party in Nigeria.”
Mr Ojukwu, who was part of the Julius Abure’s group, said there are no more factions in the LP.
He added, “There is a court ruling, and since it is valid, the right people are in the correct positions.”
He urged Barr Abure and others to drop the legal cases they have filed because they are not helping the party.
“Litigations are killing political parties”, he said. “They’ve seen many political parties disappear because of legal battles, and the Labor Party is losing support every day, which makes me feel sad.”
Mr Ojukwu said he did not think joining the Senator Nenadi-Usman’s NWC was a betrayal of the Abure group, describing himself as “the oxygen” of that faction.
“I’m with this group because of the verdict. But I never betrayed anybody. Rather, I was betrayed,” he added.
