Panic, Intrigues As Buhari Dissolves Cabinet, May 22

There is palpable panic and unending aura of intrigues as President Muhammadu Buhari has concluded plans to sack his ministers before the swearing in ceremony for a second term, billed for May 29, barring last minutes judicial decision on the pending matters before the tribunal.
Confirming the position, yesterday, Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said President Muhammadu Buhari will dissolve the Federal Executive Council on May 22.
Mohammed spoke, yesterday, at the end of the Federal Executive Council, presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The minister dismissed as ‘fake news’, rumours making the rounds that the cabinet has been dissolved.
He explained that the valedictory session will hold on May 22.
It would be recalled that Buhari swore in the 36 ministers on November 11, 2015, with few departures recorded till date.
Buhari had left Abuja yesterday morning to visit Maiduguri, Borno State, where he commissioned a host of projects.
After the visit, he flew to London, United Kingdom for a private visit.
He is expected back in Abuja on May 5.
Meanwhile, serving ministers and top political heavyweights in the All Progressives Congress (APC) have continued their lobby for various appointive positions in the government, trying to outsmart each other.
