Amaechi Promises To Provide Water, If Re-elected
Rivers State Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi says that the inability of his administration to provide potable water after three years in office makes him feel bad.
Governor Amaechi who stated this Sunday while speaking as special guest at NUJ Peoples’ Forum in Abuja titled “Making Accountability the Watch Word”, said the state initially considered the idea of rehabilitating the existing water stations and later dumped it for a new comprehensive scheme that will come on stream this year.
“The governor said “I feel bad that I have not been able to deliver on water but I make a solemn promise that if re-elected I will give it the utmost concern”, pointing out that all the plans and technical drawings have been concluded.
On corruption in government, he said his administration abhorred corruption in its entirety, stressing that anyone who distaste fraud cannot be comfortable working with corrupt persons.
The state chief executive used the opportunity to recall a falsehood published in a newspaper alleging that he funded election in Ghana and questioned the source of such money adding that the report was not true.
Governor Amaechi said he believed that government must be done in a prudent manner and explained the reason behind the recent borrowing, which he said, is to enable the state government complete ongoing projects, as the Federal allocation has dropped drastically.
The governor explained that he was seeking re-election to enable him complete most of the on-going projects started by the present government, noting that the second term would be rigorous in delivering on-the dividends of democracy.
He restated that in seeking for the peopls vote, the campaign would be value-based with the slogan, “the change you can see” and feel in addition to “yes I believe”.
Governor Amaechi used the occasion to highlight some of the achievements of his administration in the areas of Education, Health, Road, Infrastructure, Power, Monorail project and Agriculture.
