INEC Begins Collation Of Results In Four LGAs In Rivers
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the collation of results in the supplementary elections held in four Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Rivers State.
The elections which took place in the following four LGAs namely; Abua/Odual, Ahoada West, Gokana and Opobo/Nkoro had earlier been declared inconclusive.
The commission gave it reasons for declaring some areas inconclusive on the ground that elections were disrupted in Gokana, while in Opobo/Nkoro election was declared inconclusive in 20 polling units due to the margin of lead.
The commission stated further that in Ahoada West elections in 47 polling units were declared inconclusive due to the margin of lead.
It also explained that in Abua/Odual election materials were not deployed, thereby forcing the commission to cancel the polls.
Meanwhile, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the House of Assembly for Gokana Constituency, Dumle Maol has been declared winner of the polls held last Saturday, April 13, 2019.
Making the declaration the returning officer, Dr Tambari Gbarakor said that the PDP candidate polled a total of 55,319 to defeat his closest rival, Ogbala Richard of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who polled 1,854 votes.
