Royal Fathers Charged To Maintain Peace
Traditional rulers across the country have been enjoined to guide jealously the sacred responsibilities of ensuring peaceful co-existence, development and unity in their domains.
This they could do by identifying the needs, hopes and fears of their peoples and create the appropriate climate for communal development and co-operation.
Chairman of the Okrika Divisional Council of Chiefs, Chief Taribo-Sekibo Odoabaji stated this while admitting a University don, Dr Isaac Zeb-Obibi, Ogulacha (II) into the chiefs body shortly after the later’s installation at Ogoloma, Monday.
Chief Odoabaji, a Second Republica Senator of the National Assembly, admonished natural rulers not to expect too much from the subjects and communities but, at all times empathise with those in need as well as encourage hardwork among the people.
The former senator urged the new chief not to do anything capable of bringing disrespect to the chieftaincy institution, as that would be a reproach to the Ogulacha War Canoe-House which found him worthy of such honour.
Chief Oduobaji urged the new chief to imbibe the lofty qualities of his predecessor, Late Chief Ichi-Ogulucha, whom he described as an encyclopedia of culture, tradition and history, adding, the honour you owe to yourself and your house is to surpass the achievements of your predecessor.”
Speaking shortly after the installation, Chief Zeb Obipi-Ogulacha said he was humbled first by his choice, the overwhelming support of all and yesterday’s warm reception granted him into the Chiefs Council, and pledged to defend the truth, justice and peace in his domain.
The installation was attended by a cream of the society and witnessed by His Royal Majesty, E. T. I. Obudibo, Amanyanabo of Ogoloma.
