Okah Assures Of APC’s Defeat In Rivers
The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has said that it will defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in any election in Rivers State, despite last Monday’s Appeal Court order which granted the latter a stay of execution.
The Director of Information and Communications of the State PDP Campaign Council, Barr Emma Okah stated this in a press statement issued in Port Harcourt recently.
Okah was reacting to a Court of Appeal ruling in Port Harcourt which granted the APC a stay of execution order of the judgement of the Federal High Court obtained by the PDP against its main opposition in the State.
The statement reads, “The Rivers State PDP Campaign Council is aware of the order of the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt granting stay of execution of the judgement of the Federal High Court obtained by the PDP against the APC in the State.
”We are not perturbed or worried in any way because it will not affect the fortunes of the PDP in the elections,” Okah stated.
Okah, who is also the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, stated that the guaranteed victory of the PDP in the forth-coming elections is built on the strength of the party, rather than the weakness or unavailability of any political party or candidate.
He further said, that explains why the PDP was campaigning as if all the parties are in the ballot from the beginning, saying, “We are glad that we did not take anything for granted.”
Okah’s statement further reads: “The accumulated strength and capacity of the PDP in Rivers State is overwhelming and will defeat any political party or coalition that fields any candidate against the PDP in the 2019 polls.”
He described the APC in Rivers State as ‘perforated jumbo jet’ that cannot lift from the run way.
The director of Information and Communications of the state PDP Campaign council stated that the projects executed by the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration across the 23 local government areas of the State were too loud to be ignored which was why the people have been showing appreciation to the PDP since the campaigns began
”Since the campaigns began, the people of Rivers State have been showing much appreciation to the PDP for the life-changing projects the governor planted in all nooks and cranies of the state.
”So the projects will speak for the PDP at the polls and we challenge the APC to show their projects to the people,” he said, even as he assured Rivers people that the party train will continue to operate at top speed until the journey was completed.

Don’t Risk Your Legacy, Citizen Begs Jonathan Against 2027 Presidential Race
In a letter titled, “An Open Letter to Former President Goodluck Jonathan,” the observer said Dr Jonathan should be careful not to allow himself to be drawn into partisan calculations driven by ambition rather than national interest.
He cautioned the former president against allowing himself to be used by what he described as desperate political interests.
“I believe this is the time to protect the good name and legacy you have built over the years. You should not allow yourself to be used by desperate political elements who may be more interested in their own ambitions than in the future of Nigeria,” the letter read.
The Social Commentator further warned Dr Jonathan to be wary of those advocating for his comeback, claiming many of them were previously opposed to his administration.
“Many of those calling for your return today were your antagonists, those who frustrated your government back then. You should be careful not to become a pawn in a game designed by others or else they will stain your white with their ‘roforofo’,” he said.
He maintained that Dr Jonathan’s legacy remains defined by his decision to concede defeat in 2015, which he described as a landmark moment in Nigeria’s democratic history.
“Your legacy was built through years of public service and your decision to put the country’s peace above personal ambition at a critical moment in Nigeria’s history. That legacy should not be put at risk because of the desperation of a few politicians,” he added.
Mr Adenuga also alleged that some of the promoters of Dr Jonathan’s return have lost credibility in the public space.
“The truth is that some of the people pushing you to contest have already damaged their own reputations. They should not be allowed to stain your legacy with their soiled hands. What they could not achieve on their own should not be pursued through your name and goodwill,” he stressed.
He concluded by urging the former president to remain above political manoeuvring and protect his place in history.
“History has been kind to you. Preserve that honour and remain above the political games of those who want to use your name for their own purposes,” he wrote.
Recall that former President Goodluck Jonathan recently emerged as the presidential candidate of the Kabiru Turaki-led Interim National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following a special convention held in Abuja, where delegates ratified his nomination ahead of the 2027 general elections.
