Edo To Partner NGOs On Peaceful Coexistence Campaign
The Edo Deputy Governor, Mr Philip Shaibu, says the state government is always ready and committed to partner Non-Governmental Organisations and other stakeholders in campaigns on the need for continued peaceful coexistence among the people in the state.
Shaibu stated this while addressing members of Omega Fire Ministry who were on a peace march to Government House, Benin recently.
He commended the leader of the group, Pastor Azemhe Azena, for leading the campaign against cultism and other social vices.
The Deputy Gov. assured the church that the state government was ready to join hands with them to fight the evil act.
He disclosed the state government had put in place the security architecture to ensure the protection of lives and property of the people.
Shaibu noted that the forthcoming general elections in the state would not only be free but that the votes must count and would be violence-free.
In his remarks, Azena said the essence of the march was to sensitise Edo people on the need to embrace peace before, during and after the elections and commended the developmental strides of the Gov. Godwin Obaseki-led administration.
