‘Animals For Polo Tourney, Free From Equine Influenza’
The Director of Veterinary Services, Ministry of Agriculture, Rivers State, Dr Allswell Emejuru says all the animals participating in the 2019 edition of Polo tournament are free from Equine influenza.
He explained that, before the animals leaves their various states to the hosting State the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with Polo Club have assured that all the animals were examined and given certificate of vaccination.
Emejuru stated this last Monday in an exculsive interview with Tidesports shortly after Beverly Hills Hotel Polo Club defeated De Edge Hotel Polo Club 8- 2 at the ongoing TY Danjuma Polo tournament at the Port Harcourt Polo Club, GRA Rivers State.
According to him, late last year, there was outbreak of Equine influenza amongst the animal family and noted that the diseases did not affect human being.
“Before the animals travel to any state they are examined for free of daily infection”, Emejuru stated.
The director explained that, the Ministry of Agriculture will be at the venue of the tournament to ensure the animals are treated accordingly.
“The game is fun and people are enjoying themselves”, the Director noted.
