Nigerians ‘ll Resist Attempt To Truncate Democracy -Wike …Urges Rivers People To Vote Out Evil Buhari’s Govt
Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike has stated that Nigerians will resist any attempt by the APC-Federal Government to deliberately truncate the nation’s democracy.
Speaking during the inter-denominational service to mark this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the Holy Trinity Anglican Cathedral, Rumuapara Deanery, Port Harcourt, yesterday, Governor Wike said that the illegal actions of the Buhari administration are pointers to the fact that he may not willingly hand over after he suffers defeat in February.
Wike said that charges concocted by the Buhari administration against the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) are aimed at frightening the Judiciary, ahead of the planned manipulation of the polls.
The governor noted that the concocted charges against the Chief Justice Of Nigeria are targeted at the Niger Delta, same way they muzzled former President Goodluck Jonathan.
He said: “Since 1960 when Nigeria gained independence, for the first time in 2011, a Niger Delta person became the President. The entire country ganged up against him . They gave excuses and denied us a second term. We did not fight. We did not shed blood. He said his ambition was not worth the blood of any Nigerian and they called him a weak man.
“Since 1960, no Niger Delta person has been the Chief Justice of Nigeria. When it came to his own time to be appointed the Chief Justice of Nigeria politics came in. They were not willing to appoint him. It was God that created the circumstances. The President was sick and was flown out. That was how Onnoghen became the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
“Now, because they believe that the Niger Delta is not part of this country, they have come again with all kinds of stories. They think they are talking to small children. Fabricated stories and said he did not declare his assets in 2011. Step aside for who take over. We must know whether or not we belong to this country. Enough is enough. I have never seen people who are so desperate to cling to power”.
The governor added: “When they came before to attack the judiciary, I raised alarm. I told them what they were doing is part of their future plan. Unfortunately, NBA did not realise it. They chickened out and gave out their judges. Not knowing that the lion is still waiting somewhere to complete the assignment.
“They have INEC and the security agencies. They have plotted how to rig the elections. But they have not been able to gag the judiciary.
Governor Wike expressed surprise that the Attorney-General of the Federation would be used by the failed APC Federal Government to concoct illegal charges against the Chief Justice Of Nigeria.
“They know and the law is clear. You cannot try any judge except the National Judicial Council approves. They know they cannot try the CJN. But all they are doing is to cause embarassment. Put fear in all the judges.
“An Attorney General who calls himself an Attorney General will sit and file such charges against the Chief Justice of Nigeria one month to the general election. What kind of crisis are they setting up. They want to cause crisis in the judiciary and they think everyone should keep quiet?”, he said
Wike said the extreme manipulation of the system and the enthronement of a culture of impunity by the Buhari administration will not augur well for the country.
He said: “Nigeria will resist any attempt to truncate this democracy. With what I am seeing with this present government, because they are smelling defeat, they are not likely to hand over if they lose. Mark it today.
“If they lose, they will prefer something funny to happen. Anybody that does that will face the consequences. Now they are pushing people to the wall. Be careful how you deny people their mandate. Allow people’s votes to count.
“We are no longer in a democracy. This system is worse than the military. Even under the military, opinions of the people count”.
On Rivers State, Governor Wike said any security personnel plotting evil against the state will face God’s judgment and punishment.
In a sermon titled: “Your Work will follow you”, Venerable John Adubasim said Rivers people are happy with the achievements of Governor Wike.
He prayed God to bless the families of the fallen heroes and war veterans, saying that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
The Cleric warned against the attempt to scuttle the nation’s democracy by enemies of democracy.
He said that God will embarass anyone trying to subvert the will of the people of Rivers State.
Venerable Adubasim said the military should not allow themselves to be used to be used to manipulate the elections.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike has called on Rivers people to vote out the evil APC Federal Government on February 16, so as to attract benefits to the state.
Speaking during a mobilisation meeting at Unit 7 Ward 9 of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Saturday, Governor Wike said that Rivers people will queue behind the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, during the elections.
He stated that all through the 4442 polling units in the state, Rivers people will vote out the failed APC Federal Government in unison. He said since 2015, the Buhari administration has not initiated or executed any project in Rivers State.
The governor said that mobilisation for votes is happening at the unit level to carry all Rivers people along in the move to oust Buhari from the Presidency.
He said: “Vote out Buhari and vote in Atiku Abubakar. Let Buhari and APC pack and leave the Presidential Villa. Buhari’s tenancy has expired”.
He urged the people of the state to be alert at their respective units to ensure that PDP wins at all levels.
Governor Wike said rather than develop the country, the APC Federal Government is fighting all institutions in a bid to rig the forthcoming elections.
He said: “The APC Federal Government is fighting everyone. They struggled to destroy the National Assembly and failed. They are also fighting the judiciary, so they can rig the forthcoming elections. They are trying to intimidate the judiciary “.
The governor added: “This government has suffered Nigerians beyond measures. This government is evil. There is nothing good that will come out of this government. This is the worst Federal Government ever “.
Speaking on the State-wide unit mobilisation meetings, the governor said that it is meant to reach out directly to voters and propagate the need to work for Rivers development.
”I came to interact with those registered at my unit. This is happening across the state. This is a meeting for everyone registered in this unit. It is not restricted to PDP members. It is for everyone registered under the units. Reach out to them and ensure they vote PDP.
”During the next meeting, ensure you come with four persons . Every registered voter should be reached. Through this process, we will reach everyone”, he said.
Leader of the unit, Kingsley Owabie said that the unit will continue to support Governor Wike for his outstanding projects delivery.

Fubara: Nigeria Needs God-fearing Leaders To Make Progress …Applauds Seventh Day Adventist
The Governor stated this yesterday when he received in audience, the World President of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Pastor Erton Kohler; his wife, Andriene Marques Kohler; daughter Mariana Marques Kohler and a retinue of ministers of the church at Government House, Port Harcourt.
Fubara who hailed the Seventh Day Adventist Church for its contributions to education and the grooming of future leaders in Nigeria, expressed delight that the Church had over the years, been investing in education at various levels and currently runs two universities in the country.
He commended the church for not only using its institutions to spread the gospel of Christianity but to groom future leaders for the country.
According to him, religion should not be just about defending one’s faith, but also making meaningful impact on the lives of the people.
He said that by floating these educational institutions, the church has demonstrated capacity to support Nigeria in the task of producing not only educated people but a breed of God-fearing leaders.
“Our country is where it is today because we lack the fear of God. If you have the fear of God, there should be a limit to what you can do because you understand the supremacy of God. But when God is not in your equation, you’ll go beyond the line and that is what has brought us to where we are today.
“So, I feel very happy that you are contributing to the development of our future leaders in this country. We need the right people being in the right place; prepared properly with good minds; that is what we need, not just in Nigeria but round the whole world.,” he said.
Governor Fubara further observed that the absence of God-fearing people in high places to take the right decisions that could impact positively on the society, has also given rise to other problems such as social inequality, poverty, corruption and criminality. According to him, Nigeria needs a system where the average parent could afford quality education for their children and a guarantee that upon graduation, the average child will have the capacity to compete favourably with anybody, anywhere in the world.
“If we have a situation where the little money that you’re being paid as wage can also afford you quality healthcare and after working at least for 15-20 years, you have a roof over your head, tell me why you should be involved in any kind of crime? At that point, you’ll feel secured and this attitude of insecurity about the future that leads to all the social vices we have today won’t be there,” he said.
Governor Fubara expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit and for their prayers for Rivers State, assuring them of his continued support for their programmes in the state.
Leader of the delegation and World President of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Pastor Erton Kohler said he was in Nigeria for a special conference of the church during which thousands of the church’s ministers will be undergoing an empowerment programme to further equip them for the task of herding their flocks and serving the society.
He expressed gratitude to the Governor for the warm reception accorded his entourage, saying the memory of the visit will linger in his mind for a lifetime.
Kohler disclosed that the Church has over twenty -four million (24,000,000) members and more than 182,000 places of worship, spread across 212 countries of the world.

Rivers Assembly Approves Fubara’s 2026–2028 MTEF
This reaffirms the lawmakers’ commitment to enacting laws and taking legislative actions geared towards the overall development of the State.
The Assembly gave the approval during its Second Legislative Sitting of the Fourth Session held last Friday.
Speaking on the MTEF document during plenary, the House Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, noted that by the provision of Section 10(1)(b) of the Rivers State Fiscal Responsibility Law No. 8 of 2010, the MTEF ought to have been laid before the House in September 2025.
Amaewhule explained that traditionally, the document is expected to be presented four months before the commencement of the next financial year and immediately after the expiration of every three-year fiscal cycle.
He, however, stated that in the interest of the State and its people, the House considered it necessary to deliberate on the document, describing it as a precursor to the 2026 Budget Estimates.
The Speaker expressed concern that the year had already progressed significantly before the presentation of the framework.
During deliberations on the document, members examined the assumptions and projections contained in the MTEF and observed that strict adherence to the outlined fiscal parameters would ultimately serve the interest of Rivers people.
The lawmakers maintained that effective implementation of the framework would promote prudent financial management and enhance developmental planning across the State.
Following the debate and positive consideration by members, the Speaker put the question to the House and members voted overwhelmingly in support of the approval of the MTEF.
Meanwhile, during the same sitting last Friday, the House also received a petition from the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Dr. Gift Worlu.
The petition was presented by the member representing Obio/Akpor Constituency II, Hon. Emilia Amadi.
According to the petition, concerns were raised over an imminent security breach, threats to lives, destruction of property and alleged forceful takeover of property by some lawless persons within parts of the Local Government Area.
Presenting the petition before the House, Hon. Amadi appealed to the lawmakers to revisit the matter and take necessary steps aimed at safeguarding lives and property in the affected communities.
The House is expected to further deliberate on the petition and consider measures to address the concerns raised in order to sustain peace and security in the area.
