N’ Delta: SPDC Spends N1bn On Secondary School
The people of Niger Delta region have been called upon to evolve ways of making the region more attractive to investors and abstain from activities capable of scaring investors away of from region.
Speaking during the SPDC-JV Education Day, held in Port Harcourt, last Tuesday, the Managing Director, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Mr Osagie Okunbor, expressed fears that young Nigerians would no longer enjo the genuine life changing opportunities that existed in the Niger Delta region if they continued to tread the path of crisis without caution.
Okunbor, who is also the Country Chair, Shell Companies in Nigeria, noted that despite the huge investment made in education by SPDC, regretted that it was not enough if the needed conducive environment was not created by stakeholders to attract investors.
The Managing Director, who was represented by the General Manager, External Relations, Mr Igo Weli stated that it was time for the people of Niger Delta to start asking themselves questions such as: “what would be the fate of these young talented Nigerians after benefitting from quality education by SPDC?
