Deputy Governor Tasks Christians On Exemplary Lifestyle
Christians have been urged to live exemplary life worthy of emulation as they prepare themselves to make heaven while on earth.
The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Engr. Tele Ikuru made the call last Sunday 2009 during the memorial service of late Pa Matthew Kaite Abu, father of the Accountant General of the State, Sir Ngozi Y. Abu at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, lhuama in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the State.
Egnr. Tele Ikuru said that late Pa Abu, in his life time fought good fight and accomplished his mission on earth and now awaits the crown of glory in the bosom of the Almighty.
The Deputy Governor who was unavoidably absent for State assignments and was ably represented by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Gogo Levi Charles encouraged the bereaved family to take solace in the Lord, maintaining that since last year the vacuum was created in Abu’s family, it has been very difficult to fill.
Engr. Tele Ikuru described Pa Abu’s death as great loss to Ihuama, Upata Community, the State ard Nigeria in general and prayed God’s continual response of Abu’s soul in his bosom.
In his sermon, the Archbishop, Province of Niger Delta and also Bishop, Diocese of Niger Delta North, His Grace, Most Rev. Ignatius C. O. Kattey, described Pa Matthew Abu as epitome of peace and who spent his life time to embrace God’s work with all his heart therefore lived a fulfilled life.
Quoting from the book of Proverbs 10: 15. Archbishop I. C. O. Kattey said “the memory of the righteous remains blest” and urged all to live life that tell good about them, maintaining that not how long one lived but how well the life and admonished the family of late Pa Abu to strife to emulate the Christian life of their father.
In appreciation, Sir Ngozi Y. Abu thanked Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi-led administration for showing concern in their moment of grief and awarded contract on ring-road construction which work has since commenced.
