2019: Rotary Urges End To Violence, March For Peace
The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, Down South, District 9141 is seeking for an end to violence before, during and after the 2019 general elections.
This was the outcome of the Port Harcourt peace mass rally organised by the club in collaboration with the Nigeria Police and other security agencies at the weekend in Port Harcourt.
The rally tagged: “Walk With Rotary For Peace Mass Rally Season 2”, started from the GRA Junction and ended at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre, Port Harcourt. The participants,comprising men and women, including youths, carried several placards with inscriptions such as “Rivers is peaceful, 2019 will be peaceful,” and”Rotary for peaceful 2019 elections”, amongst others.
Addressing the participants before the take-off of the rally, the District Governor, Rotary District 9141, Rotarian OladokunAdeyemi said that the club has six focal areas, which included peace and conflict resolution, service to humanity, among others, stressing that the club was working hard to enthrone global peace.
Adeyemi said that development would continue to elude the country, if there was no peace.
