We Place Premium On Women Dev – Banigo
The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo says the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration would continue to support the development of women in the state.
Banigo stated this while playing host to three former female caretaker committee chairmen of Degema, Obio/Akpor and Ogu/Bolo local government areas at Government House in Port Harcourt, last Monday.
She said as former caretaker committee bosses, they were expected to use their political exposure to sensitise members of their constituencies and senatorial districts to use their PVCs to re-elect Governor Wike in 2019, noting that the governor has delivered on his campaign promises to Rivers people.
The deputy governor, who described Wike as gender-friendly said women were important to the administration not just because they were more in number but because when women are placed in decision-making positions, family, child and gender issues top the agenda.
In their various responses, former CTC Chairman of Degema, Mrs Okorite Carrie Adiele, former CTC Chairman, Obio/Akpor, Mrs Goodness Clinton Amadi and former CTC Chairman, Ogu/Bolo, Mrs Mary Minasie Clinton expressed gratitude to the governor for finding them worthy to be appointed, stressing that his gender-friendly disposition was unparalleled in the annals of the state.
