FG Receives Certificates Of Compliance For Aviation MRO
In line with the procurement requirement for the establishment of Maintenance, Repair and overhaul facility (MRO) and the Aviation Leading Company (ALC), the Independent Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) has issued the outline Business Case Certificates to the Federal Government for the proposed MRO and ALC projects.
The Minister of State for aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, while receiving the certificates on behalf of the Federal Government, Tuesday in Abuja, expressed satisfaction on having “Scaled the first huddle” in its bid to establish an aviation leasing company and maintenance, repair facilities in Nigeria.
Sirika said that government announced the transaction Advisers (TA) for the ALC and MRO projects in a Stakeholders Forum held in Abuja on March 29th, 2018, adding that “with the outline Business Case Certificates, the TAs are empowered to swing into action”.
He commended the ICRC delegation for ensuring that the outline Business Case Certificates were issued the government after all due processes were completed.
The minister stated further that most of the airlines operating in Nigeria are faced with the challenge of funding.
According to him over 52 airlines have come into the aviation industry over the years, but could not prosper in operations due to funds.
“To have this company which will provide leasing services will indeed boost the operations of airlines in Nigeria.
“Findings on the best way to operate a National Carrier has been concluded and the report submitted. We are now waiting to go to procurement, and I can assure you that we will deliver on the National Carrier before the end of December, 2018.
“We will ensure that it is transparent and for the interest of all Nigerians, Nigeria is grossly underserved in the provision of aircraft”, he said.
