Clergy Tasks Chiefs On Community Dev
An Anglican Priest in Rivers State, Rev. Chris Eke has called on traditional rulers and chiefs to see their positions as divine and be prepared always to give account of their stewardship.
Rev. Eke who was admonishing the chiefs during the coronation of 13 titled chiefs of Rumuadaolu community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area recently said the prosperity of the community lay in the hands of the chiefs.
The clergy who also led a session of prayers for the people urged the chiefs to use their position to judge the people rightly, pointing out that the outcome of their decisions would affect the destiny of the people positively or negatively.
Performing the coronation ceremony at the community hall, the acting paramount ruler of Rumuadaolu, Chief F.O. Amadi said that the chiefs coronated, were chosen after careful scrutiny, adding that the ceremony was not political.
He therefore charged the newly coronated chiefs to be good ambassadors of the community by dedicating themselves to the service of the community.
The newly coronated chiefs are Sir Walson Bereremema Emeto with the tile “Eze Olor 1”, Chief Edmund I. Ajoku as “Ejekwu Wochinwo Mati 1”, Chief Godspower A. Aguma (JP) – Eze Eni 1, Chief Sunny Agidu – Eze Epara Omarunma, Chief Robert E. Amadi – Eze Amadi Akpukpor 1 and Chief Ozununye Henry Hanachor – Eze Nnike 1.
Others are Chief Mohammed Chike Atuzie – Eze Rumuchinda 1, Chief Franklyn I. Wagwu – Eze Obiri Wagwu 1, Chief Gift A. Chinda – Eze Chim – Merum 1, and Chief Stanley I. Amadi, as “Eze Udo 1.
The rest are Chief Christopher Achor – Eze Wene bu Ikerema 1, Chief Echefu Atuzie – Eze Izioma 1, and Chief Acheru Wagwu – Eze Ekwunuzi N’ Oba 1.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Chief F.I. Wagwu thanked the people for giving them opportunity to serve, and promised not to betray the confidence reposed on them.
