RSG Tasks LGAs On CARNIRIV
Rivers State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon Marcus Nle-Ejii has called on local government council in the state to fully mobilise for the upcoming state carnival (CARNIRIV) slated for December, this year.
The commissioner gave the challenge during a one-day workshop ion floats and roadshow logistics for the 23 local government area coordinators and zonal supervisors in Port Harcourt, yesterday.
Hon Nle-Ejii said this year’s festival would give special focus to the local government areas in order to portray the unique culture and tradition of the state, adding that, “ we would have two different days, one for the local government areas and one for the free style”.
The Rivers State Culture and Tourism boss therefore urged the participants to put ion their best efforts to make sure the festival goes on smoothly as planned.
In the same vein, Special Adviser to the state Governor on Culture and Tourism, Mr Iboroma Harry has assured that this year’s edition of the festival wopuld be better than before.
Mr Harry while urging participants at the workshop to make sure that the festival is organised successfully said all logistics and plans had been put in place for the smooth organisation of the event.
Speaking on the different programmes and rules put in place for the successful organisation of the festival, popular Nigerian actor and consultant for the event, Sam Dede stressed the need for the local government participants to mobilise for the festival.
He disclosed that new rules and standards had been evolved to raise the festival to a world class level, noting the , “CARNIRIV is an international brand for the Rivers people”.
One unique thing that marks out the event this years according to Mr Dede is that the festival coincides with the country’s jubilee anniversary, hence the need to make it memorable that previous editions.
Chief executive of message Wise, the consulting firm for the event, Mr Henry Nzekwe reiterated that the festival would be better than the former editions, and therefore enjoined the citizenry to participate enmass.
