FG Assures Rivers Of Benefit From Capital Votes
The people of Rivers State will benefit from the N53.89 billion earmarked by the Federal Government for Niger Delta Ministry and N71.2 billion for Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for capital projects, the Head of Public Affairs of the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme, Mr Amanda Zion has said.
Zion, who stated this in an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt, Monday also commended the Federal Government for the approval given to the redesigning and reconstruction of the Port Harcourt/ Aba road and Enugu/ Port Harcourt section of the expressway.
He said the budgetary allocation for the Niger Delta amnesty programme retained at N65 billion with the budgetary allocation of N17.32 billion earmarked for the completion of the East-West Road will make Rivers State glow with activities.
He said what the Rivers State Government need is to maintain peace and security in most of the areas, adding that this would ensure more employment and business activities in future.
He blamed the decision by most of the oil companies to leave the state due to restiveness and insecurity, assuring that with the current pace, the state is ready to retain her business hub in the country.
According to him, “the Federal Government recently approved contracts of N47B for road projects in the country, including redesigning & reconstruction of the Aba/Port-Harcourt section of the Enugu/Port-Harcourt Expressway.
“This alone will ensure employment and more business activities for youths and other contractors’’, he said.
He, however, commended Governor Nyesom Wike for the numerous constructions in the state, stating this alone has made some of the youths busy and earn wages.
