‘Wike’s Good Works Attract People To PDP’

The Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bro. Felix Obuah has said that the gale of defections into the party by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state was as a result of the good works of Governor Nyesom Wike.
Obuah, in a statement in Port Harcourt, yesterday, said the overwhelming achievements of Wike less than three years in office have convinced doubting Thomases that good governance was possible in the state.
The state PDP boss, who spoke on the heels of massive defection of APC members led by the APC lawmaker representing Tai State Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Mathew Dike to the PDP, last Tuesday, praised the decampees for taking the right decision to dump the APC, which he described as an expired association.
While urging the APC remnants still left in the party, including the lawmaker representing Tai/Eleme/Oyigbo Federal Constituency, Hon Barry Mpigi to join the ongoing exodus of their members into the PDP across the state, Obuah described the development as positive, restating that the APC was not and can never be an option for the Rivers man or woman.
“For eight consecutive years, Rivers people were infested with bad governance by the APC, peopled by a group of greedy, self-seeking and unpatriotic individuals. But the emergence of Governor Wike changed the tide and brought massive infrastructural development in all the nooks and crannies of the state”, he said.
Obuah added that Amaechi and his group of scoundrels did more disservice to the people in failing to provide a peaceful and tranquil environment for the people.
“Happily, Governor Wike graciously brought peace to the state and aside his inroad in infrastructural development; he has made commendable marks in the area of education, healthcare, housing, human capacity building and youths/ women development”, the state PDP boss said.
Obuah said the mass defection of APC members into the PDP became inevitable as the governor has not only delivered on his campaign promises but has clearly exceeded all expectations.
“What about the numerous awards he has received declaring him as Governor of the Year, the most recent being the Sun Newspaper Governor of the Year, back to back, Silverbird and Daily Independent Awards”, he said, adding that Wike has also warmed his way into the hearts of the international community, the latest being his nomination for the prestigious Africa Power of Sports Award which will be conferred on him on May 8, 2018 in Brussels, Belgium.
