The clan which stated this during the coronation of Eze Igbu Ubie IV, HRH Eze Maxwell Okpokiri, said that Ubie is the oldest clan in Ekpeye Kingdom.
Chairman of the coronation ceremony, High Chief Jonah Odoyi, said that Ubie that Ubie with administrative headquarters at Ubeta, has over 21 towns and villages, adding that the Eze Ubie stool was recognised by the government of the former Eastern Nigeria as a second class stool.
“The Eze Ubie stool was recognised by the erstwhile government of Eastern Nigeria as a second class stool according to the provisions of the section of chieftaincy regulations which still subsists today with the Rivers State Government and Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs.
“It is therefore imperative to note and observe that almost all the six component clans of Ekpeye land have first class chieftaincy stool recognised by the Rivers State Government”, he said.
