NUJ Boss Tasks Journalists On Good Governance
The newly elected executive members of The Tide Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) have been called upon to embrace good governance as panacea for growth.
Speaking at the inauguration of the executive in Port Harcourt recently, Acting Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council, Ms. Uche Agbam enjoined the team to operate an open-door-policy where others would contribute their quota for the overall development of the union in the area.
Agbam maintained that the team should emphasise on welfare of members, noting that all and sundry should be carried along in the scheme of things.
She urged the team not to display apathy, sentiment, nepotism and other vices that are inimical to the growth of the union but should rather work as a team to build better future for the union.
The State NUJ boss, however, admonished the team to ensure proactive measures in its quest to bring development closer to members and implored members of the chapel to always participate in the activities of the union.
Those inaugurated include, Messrs, Akujobi Amadi, Chairman; John Bibor; Vice Chairman, Tonye Orabere; Secretary and Mrs Susan Serekara Nwikhana; Treasurer.
The posts of Assistant Secretary and Financial Secretary would be filled within the next three meetings of the chapel as directed by the Acting Chairman.
In his acceptance remark, the Chairman, Mr. Akujobi Amadi, assured the Acting State Chairman of the team’s preparedness to carry everybody along in its activities, to move the Chapel forward.
Amadi also used the opportunity to appeal to members and intending ones to identify with the group for the growth of the union.
Also in his vote of thanks, the Secretary of the Chapel, Tonye Orabere commended the leadership quality of the Acting Chairman, describing her as a, “builder of humanity and society”.
Orabere pledged that all members would be carried along in the day-to-day activities of the chapel.
