Aruna Loses To Assar In ITTF
Egyptian table tennis star, Omar Assar defeated Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri 4-3 in the final of the 2018 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Top 16 in Nairobi, Kenya on Saturday.
Quadri who defeated Saleh Ahmed 4-1 in the semi-finals trailed Assar 3-1 before battling back to tie the game at 3-3.
He, however, lost the final set to Assar who is now the top ranked player in Africa.
Also, Nigeria’s oldest player at the tournament, Segun Toriola, finished fifth after defeating Kherouf Sani from Algeria 3-0.
In the women’s singles category, Nigeria’s Edem Offiong came third after defeating Loghraibi Linda from Algeria 3-0, while Funke Oshonaike beat Said Safa from Tunisia to finish fifth
