Isiokpo Gets ICT Centre
The Rivers State Government in conjunction with the World Bank/European Union (EU) has commissioned an Information Communication/Technology (ICT) Centre and a fencing project in Ogbodo isiokpo in the Ikwerre Local Government Area.
The projects were executed under the community Driven Development Social-project Implementation Unit (CDDS-PIU) Ministry of Chieftaincy/Community Affairs of the state Employment and Expenditure for Results (SEEFOR) project.
Meanwhile the Commissioner for Chieftaincy/Community Affairs, Barrister Silveranus Nwankwo has commended Governor Wike for continuously ensuring the implementation of the Seefor Projects though counterpart funding.
Nwankwo who was represented by the permanent secretary of the Ministry, Sir Felix Odungweru said that the projects were meant enhance the welfare of those living in the rural communities across the state.
He commended the Ogbodo Community for contributing towards the successful execution of the projects, stressing that they should not allow anybody to vandalise the projects.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Budget/Economic Planning, Barrister Isaac Kamalu said that the projects would help to create opportunities for youths in the areas.
Kamalu who was represented by his Permanent Secretary, Mrs Titilola Cline also urged the community to use the projects for the purpose for which it was meant for.
Also speaking, the state Co-ordinator of SEEFOR, Mr. Kelcious Amos represented by Mrs Nkiru Igbe stressed the need for the community to use the projects to improve their living conditions.
Earlier, the Project Director, Community Driven Development Social-Project Implementation (CDDS-PIU), Ministry of Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Sir ThankGod Amaewhule said that the project would enable the teeming youths in the community have access to the Information Communication Technology (ICT) thereby enhancing their successes at every computer-based examination.
He also commended the Governor for his support to the Seefor programme.

Technology Key to Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development, Says Computer Scientist
Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, former state Chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), has emphasized that technology is the sure way for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He made this assertion while speaking with newsmen at the sideline of 118th inaugural lecture series of Rivers State University (RSU) held in port Harcourt, wednesday.
He stressed that the lecture, which focused on emerging technology and its impact on the socio-economic development of the country, aligns with the NCS’s economic focus.
He highlighted the importance of building an economy driven by technology, citing the success of the Rivers State Smart Economy policy as an example.
The computer scientist emphasized the need for innovation and doing things differently, asserting that “technology is the only way out” for Nigeria’s development. He praised the lecturer, Professor Mathias Daniel, for exploring the applications of technology in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, transport, and socio-economics.
Dr. Emmanuel underscores the critical role technology plays in driving socio-economic growth and development in Nigeria by leveraging technology, the country can unlock new opportunities and address pressing challenges.
