NNPC Staff Kidnapped in PH
A staff of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Mr Olabode by four unidentified armed men. The Tide gathered that Mr Omosegbon aged 38, was abducted by 10.23 pm along Acho Wobo Street, Akwaka in Rumuodamaya area of Rivers State. According to the Police Public Relations Officers Rivers Command, Mrs Rita Inoma-Abbey, the hoodlums also made away with the victim’s gold colour Toyota Corolla 2008 model car. The PPRO said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Special Area who was alerted, visited the scene with his team of policemen and succeeded in arresting a male suspect within the area for questioning, while intensive search for the victim is on-going. The police image maker reiterated the Nigeria police preparedness to work and launch attack at anytime as soon as modern and sophisticated equipment are provided for the police.
She suggested to the federal government to provide for the police helicopters, bullet proof vest, sophisticated weapons and other necessary gadgets that would reinvigorate the police to launch an aggressive attack on criminals in the society. In a similar development one Mary Kpagi kidnapped a week ago had regained her freedom through the efforts of anti-kidnap squad.
According to the Police Public Relations Officers, Mr Rita Inoma-Abbey, Mrs Kpagi was kidnapped at her resident in Bori by five armed men who came on three (3) motorcycles at about 8.30 am.
The Tide gathered that the rescue of the victim was made possible following the joint effort of the anti-kidnap squad, police patrol team, SARs, in Bori Division who cordoned the hide out of the kidnappers and arrested five suspects.
