Chairman Re-assures On Peace In Ogu/Bolo LGA
The chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Hon Lawrence Abiebiari, has reassured that the people of the Area would continue to maintain their peaceful disposition at all times.
Abiebiari gave the assurance during a stakeholders forum on security presided over by the State Director of Security Service, Mr Douglas Dogo at Ogu recently.
According to him, inspite of the security threats from neighbouring communities, the people had resolved to allow peace reign supreme.
He thanked the state government for the on-going boundary demarcation, which he said would foster peaceful co-existence and development.
He commended the federal government over its youths rehabilitation programmes, and called for more empowerment of youths to engage them positively.
The state director called on the people to be security conscious and be alert at all times so as to nip insecurity in the bud.
Dogo stressed the need for Nigerians to support the federal government in actualising the objectives of the seven-point agenda.
He also called for attitudinal change by Nigerians on the issues of political thuggery, kidnapping, cultism and other social vices and remarked that free, fair and credible elections were attainable if all citizens were prepared to give their best in the electoral process.
The SSS Director, however, expressed satisfaction with the turn-out and enjoined all to take the right action in all issues concerning security.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs, Mrs Grace Akpogonor Okwulehi who represented the commissioner, Barrister Tammy Wenike Danagogo, explained that the tour to the 23-local governments in the state was designed to sensitise the people on security matters and the need to be security alert.
The council secretary, Mr Ibiboyi Iyaye in his speech appealed to the state government to consider the rebuilding of the Ogu Police station and the government secondary school which were destroyed some years ago.
