Delay In Prosecuting Fake Ballot Paper Printers Angers Banigo

The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has expressed worries that the culprits caught while printing fake Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ballot papers in the D/Line area of Port Harcourt, last year, were still moving around scot-free.
In a statement in Government House, Port Harcourt, Banigo said it was unfortunate that people who were caught red handed in the act have not been punished for their criminal acts.
“Is this how we are going to fight corruption?”, Banigo asked, restating that those who must come to equity must come with clean hands.
“In this turbulent period of our political history, failure of the authorities concerned to do the needful by bringing the perpetrators of this crime to book will inadvertently encourage others to do the same as we approach the 2019 General Elections”, Banigo stressed.
According to her, the State Chief Executive, Chief Nyesom Wike had earlier raised an alarm that the matter was about to be swept under the carpet by the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government, warning that evil thrives in the society when evil doers are left unpunished because of selfish personal interests.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor, Dr (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo, says the Supreme Court verdict that confirmed Senator Ahmed Markafi as the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has brought hope that Nigeria will be great again.
In a statement in Government House, Port Harcourt, Banigo felicitated with the leadership and members of the party as they conduct the non-elective congress in Abuja.
Banigo said divisions in the party within the last two years as a result of impunity by some persons have finally been put to rest, stressing that “the party has come back stronger and better poised to give our dear country the leadership that will take it to the promised land.”
According to her, the Peoples Democratic Party, which remains the biggest political party in sub-Saharan Africa, is the solution to the indivisibility Nigeria needs to continue to assert herself as the Giant of Africa.
