Wike Not Tampering With Councils’ Funds – NULGE
The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Rivers State, has commended Governor Nyesom Wike for not tampering with council allocations.
President of the union, Comrade Franklin Ajinwo, who said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt said that unlike the situation in other states, Governor Wike does not tamper with councils funds.
The Nulge president however frowned at the late disbursement of councils funds, a situation which has led to uneven financial situations in some councils.
According to him, the situation has accounted for the incessant delays in the payment of councils staff salaries, stressing that this has thrown most families into hardship.
He stressed the need for the Ministry of Local Government Affairs to ensure that the Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC) meetings are held on time with a view to ensuring that funds are made available to local governments for the payment of salaries.
Comrade Ajinwo used the occasion to congratulate the newly sworn-in Caretaker Committee Chairmen and members and assured them of the support of the union to their administrations.
He however charged the chairmen to ensure that there is harmony between them and council workers.
