RSSSB Debunks Rumour To Sack Teachers
The Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board (RSSSB) says there is no plan or directive to sack teachers in the state.
The chairman, RSSSB, Cheif David Briggs, made this clarification while reacting on an on-line media reports that the state government has concluded plans to sack some categories of teachers teaching in senior secondary schools.
According to the report, the categories of the affected teachers allegedly to be sacked by the state government include teachers with Ph.D and Masters degrees who are classroom teachers,
Mr Briggs averred that he was not aware of any such directives and noted that employment, discipline and termination of teachers teaching in any secondary schools in the state lies within his office.
The state chairman of senior secondary schools board disclosed that he has not received such directive to sack any teacher from the state governor, adding that such executive exercise and directive had not been contemplated.
He described the rumours as political rumours that do not act have any bearing and urged the public to disregard such unfounded rumours.
“The governor has not directed me on that. I have not heard about it either in form of rumours or contemplation. This is one of the political rumours, I must tell you that there was nothing of such”, he stated.
