Expose Corrupt Officials, EFCC Urges N’Deltans
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has traced and recovered over N10billion worth of assets and physical cash from corrupt individuals from the South-South region between 2015 and 2017.
The South-South Zonal Head of the EFCC, Ishiak Salihu, who stated this during an anti-corruption road walk in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, said the EFCC was currently prosecuting a former official of the NDDC, George Turner, over alleged N10billion stolen funds of the NDDC.
He said the aim of the anti-corruption road walk was to create awareness on the implications of corruption on the economic and social wellbeing of Nigerians.
Salihu also urged Nigerians to take advantage of the whistle blowing policy of the Federal Government to report and expose corrupt public officials.
Our correspondent reports that operatives of the EFCC, some anti-corruption groups, a representative of former President of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Okey Wali, SAN, as well as youth corps members took part in the anti-corruption road walk by the EFCC in Port Harcourt.
