‘RSU Ready To Partner Organisations On Research’
The Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwu, Port Harcourt, is ready to partner with organisations interested in promoting teaching and learning, especially as it relates to research.
Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University, Prof Blessing Didia, who stated this recently at the opening ceremony of a Global Project Conference hosted by the university, said the conference was timely.
According to him, the conference, with the theme, “Reorienting Education and Training Systems to Improve the Lives of Indigenous and Marginalised Youths”, is timely because it came at a time the institution has concluded plans to host such conference.
“The university has concluded plans to hold conferences that have direct impact on the lives of students and lecturers of the institution”, he said.
This, he explained, is in line with the purpose for which the university was established.
“RSU was established to produce scientific and technical manpower of various levels needed to develop and encourage the advancement of learning without distinction in acquiring a higher and liberal education”, he said.
Speaking at the event, the Director, Advancement Linkages Centre of the Institution, Dr Ogbuigwe, said “the Global Project will generate academic research into how schools should develop and transform their support for formal education to meet the local educational needs of the youth in the Niger Delta”.
She described the Vice Chancellor “a father and visionary leader who meant well for the growth and development of the university”.
Earlier, Chairman of the Conference, Prof. Charles Hopkins, had extolled the VC over what he called his visionary leadership, and support for programmes that were of great value to the university and society”.
He stated that the conference “will bring great value to the university’s educational curriculum.
