RSG Dismisses APC’s Claims On Pensioners, Social Media Volunteers

The Rivers State Government has dismissed claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in the state that it was owing pensioners several months’ arrears of allowances, while making efforts to recruit social media volunteers to drive a so-called propaganda campaign on the government’s giant strides over the last two years.
In a statement in Port Harcourt, last Monday, Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor, Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, said the government has kept faith with the civil servants and pensioners, who have been paid their entitlements, religiously.
The statement added that the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration does not need to recruit social media volunteers to assist in laundering its image and achievements, saying that even ordinary first-time visitors to the state would reckon that the government has done significantly well in efforts to transform the state.
The statement reads: “My attention has been drawn to a concocted advertisement being circulated by the Rivers State APC leadership through one of the defeated APC House of Assembly Candidate, Mr Chima Nnokam.
“Well-meaning members of the public are enjoined to disregard this advertisement as it did not emanate from my office. It is false, baseless and without foundation.
“It is yet another pedestrian attempt by the Rivers APC to mislead unsuspecting members of the public.
“Governor Wike’s administration is pro-people, practical and the best performing in the country. It has no reason to be involved in needless propaganda like the APC. The people-oriented projects and programmes of Governor Wike speak volumes.”
