Bayelsa Nuj Loses Another Member
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State Council has lost another journalist barely a week after a journalist working at the State Radio House was assassinated in his bedroom.
Unlike Famous Giobaro who was killed by unknown gun men, Mr Chris Ejim, a member of the Federated Correspondents’ Chapel died after a brief illness in his residence.
Until his demise, Mr Ejim was the State Correspondent of the New Telegraph.
A graduate of Mass Communication from The Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra state, he was a strong and committed member of the Federated Correspondents’ Chapel of NUJ, Bayelsa State Council.
A statement by the chairman of the Bayelsa Correspondents’ Chapel, Comrade Kola Oredipe, described the death of late Ejim, as shocking and devastating.
He described Ejim as a fine writer and thoroughly bred professional whose writing skill and style was simple and enterprising.
Late Ejim, who previously worked with Thisday Newspaper in Lagos and Nigerian Compass was a fearless, frank and bold journalist who would resist any form of intimidation from any quarter.
“The entire leadership and members of the chapel extend our heartfelt condolences to the Ejim’s family of Anambra state and pray God to grant them the fortitude to bear this painful loss”.
He was aged 49years and a native of Ezira community in Orumba North Local Government.
