National Council On Agric Opens In PH , Today
All is now set for the hosting of the 42nd regular meeting of the national council of Agriculture and Rural Development which opens in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, today.
Making the disclosure, last Friday, while speaking to newsmen in her office in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Commissioner for Agriculture, Barr Onimim Jacks, explained that it is expected to be a week long event, starting from today, Monday the 24th of April to Friday, April 28, 2017.
According to her the event would hold at the Dr Obi Wali Centre, Port Harcourt. It begins with a technical session today
She said matters affecting the growth of agric value chain in respect to cassava, rice, maize and sorghum, amongst other crops, would be discussed.
The agric boss revealed that framers associations in the state would be involved in the event.
She further disclosed that the meeting, which would be led by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbe, will pay visits to the state council of traditional rlers and chiefs on Wednesday.
“We want to sell agriculture to the monarchs so that they can properly take such message to their subjects, she said.
Other areas that the council would visit, she added, include Indorama, International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and The Agric College Onne, amongst others.
According to her the event would declared open by the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, today.
